Bob Marley’s ‘Legend’ Still Tops Charts 36 Years Later

Bob Marley’s Legend: The Very Best of Bob Marley and The Wailers, has continued to top the new look Billboard Reggae Albums in 2020, 36 years later after release.

The album, which was first released in 1984 as Legend, tops the chart leading up to the late Reggae icon’s 75th birthday celebration on February 6.

The album debuted nine years before Billboard’s reggae table was even introduced. It has remained one of the most successful albums of all time.

Over the years the album has been reproduced several times, selling more than 28 million copies worldwide.

Legend is currently number 1 on the Albums chart and has remained in the charts for 13 weeks as of today’s date..

According to Billboard, the album remarkably still sells between 3,000 and 5,000 copies each week.

The new-look chart sees a number of older titles re-entering the chart which were released years ago.

According to Billboard, this is in keeping with developing trends and the way music is consumed by fans via different streaming platforms.
